Number one, defining rape as forcible rape only is Insane! date rape is rape; drugged rape is rape. The only defining factor should be a lack of consent. Did you say yes? If not it's rape. Is society really becoming this barbaric? (and yes I meant to use that strong a word)

Second, are we really going to let someone legislate a backdoor reversal of Roe v Wade? Because things like penalizing private companies for having abortion included in their health plan is exactly that.

ok rant over. Now I need to go be civil to a member of congress.

So I was talking to an acquaintance last night about the eminent decline of LJ. She had a pretty good point that much of the casual I did this today and quizzies have all moved to Facebook. /nod true enough. However regardless of my presence over at Facebook I still have a affection and purpose for LJ. I like reading longer thoughtful posts that most don't bother with on Facebook. I also like the communities and it is where all my external blogs feed to. So, in an effort to make my contribution to the continued success of LJ, I am making an official effort to post everyday for the month of February, and hopeful to continue into the rest of the year. So I will leave you with a poll.

So how about something a little more thorough than yesterday's tidbit.

Christmas -- Per tradition we headed north to spend the weekend with my famiLY. It was a good time had by all.

Monday -- We had a happy gathering of old friends and their families. Food games and conversation.

NYE -- A smaller gathering than usual. But happy and good and the perfect way to end the year. Followed up with filled pancakes and bacon in the AM.

I was driving home tonight, from a social gathering even, and watching the moon. The thought that entered my head was 'pregnant with hope', full, and round and bright. It seems an apt thought for the day.

Like many 2010 has been a fairly brutal year for me. I am making efforts to start 2011 with purpose. I am hopeful and skeptical in equal measure.

If you read this blog often you probably know the answer. My twin sister, oceansfire. But let me tell you why.

Basically she kicks ass. She's the only person I know that has wanted to be, and succeeded at becoming, the same thing since she was 8. A-fucking-mazing. This career as taken to many an exotic places. The north and south Pacific. Fish farming in Charleston. Big fish tank in Epcot. And a variety of fishy places in OR and CA.
She spins fire staff like a badass. She has a PURPLE MOHAWK! She is in an Amazing relationship with an awesome woman. She also has a eclectic sense of style, good choice in friends and makes great conversation on everything from religion to sex.

For everyone that was subjected to my angst last week, I apologize. Some of the stuff posted was melodramatic and while true not the whole truth.
