Number one, defining rape as forcible rape only is Insane! date rape is rape; drugged rape is rape. The only defining factor should be a lack of consent. Did you say yes? If not it's rape. Is society really becoming this barbaric? (and yes I meant to use that strong a word)

Second, are we really going to let someone legislate a backdoor reversal of Roe v Wade? Because things like penalizing private companies for having abortion included in their health plan is exactly that.

ok rant over. Now I need to go be civil to a member of congress.

I still vacillate sometimes on how I feel about mandatory active consent. I'm perfectly fine with partners who it, but I don't think I always want it; there are times where I don't want to have to say yes, I just don't want my right to say no infringed upon. And, if my not saying yes makes it rape, there are definitely times where I, in real life, want to be raped.

I think this is a different animal and something that can be negotiated. Rape fantasies are not uncommon. I feel they can be part of a healthy sex life, when negotiated. There still must be a way to say no. This is why we have safe words.
What the above law is trying to do is say that the only rape that is considered rape is violent. Date rape is rape, forget active consent the woman is saying no. She just isn't being beaten by a stranger while doing it. Drugged rape is rape, it takes away your ability to say no.

Oh, I'm certainly against the law; I've just seen various sources, your rant included, imply that any sex without active consent is rape, which I think goes too far in the opposite direction.


While I'm here, using up space: Sleep No More. You can go find reviews from the Boston version from last winter. I cannot express how awesome it was, how I had to go over and over, and how I think you're precisely the sort of person who would enjoy it and should plan to meet me in NYC sometime in March to see it.

When I go to the link I get the website for the McKittrick Hotel. Am I missing something?
If I am correct in that you mean the play done by Punch Drunk then it sounds like a plan to be made. If its a hotel, maybe we need to talk somewhere less public. ;)

Ha. The McKittrick Hotel is just what they're calling the venue; try here.

It opens on March 7. I will be in NYC March 15-17, currently, and could see it the night of the 17th. I can make separate trips easily enough.
