These musings are brought to you by The Sisters of Mercy and [livejournal.com profile] reedrover
Firstly I am dying to get out of here so I can head north for The Sisters of Mercy concert with [livejournal.com profile] oceansfire. This is the first concert I've been to in a year and I am long over due. The only bad being that [livejournal.com profile] quixotic_goat will be absent so I will have no post concert outlet for the rush I get from live events. I am a, very tame, exhibitionist and enjoy PDAs far too much for say the symphony. But a venue involving large crowds and big amps? Totally my scene. (And yes, small scantily clad crowds and tasty beverages are also a big win)

This leads nicely into the posting request of [livejournal.com profile] reedrover .
If you could make your boss listen to your music, what would you insist on him&her hearing?
Well isn’t that an interesting idea? The first question being, What should I make them listen to? The grunge rock of my high school years? My early dabbling in punk in the late ‘80’s? Leonard Cohen & Dar Williams? Or the Goth/Darkwave that I am currently cozying up to? To do all the above in one session would validate for them that I am truly insane. (Yes I am insane but they don’t know that yet.)Eventhough I may listen to any or all of these, plus some country & pop, on any given day.
The freak in me begs for shock value, and so for the sake of discussion let’s go with the Goth. (I mean really, black corsets and stompy boots will impress anyone.)

My Corrosion -- Sisters of Mercy
Lucretia My Reflection -- Sisters of Mercy
Stigmata Martyr -- Bauhaus
Eye of the Storm -- The Cruxshadows
Memories Kill -- Mephisto Waltz
Shroud -- Fields of Nephilim (Mainly because I finally found some of their stuff that I don't hate and it would make [livejournal.com profile] leonatos smile)

This is a pretty good set of the basics. A few classics and a few newer things that are important to me.
Now that said, what would be the most fun is to give them one of my crazy cross genre playlists. (put "I Kissed a Girl"by Jill Sobule between My Corrosion and Jesus of Suburbia then follow up with The Cure and Leonard Cohen)

ETA: Upon re-reading this post, it occurs to me that the second list IS my music. I defy the world to make me pick just one box. And since I tend to not be box shaped I also tend to not fit in them all that often.

Yes I am insane but they don’t know that yet.

You don't think they know it, yet. *grin*

And I heartily agree that there's nothing wrong and much impressive about black corsets and stompy boots.

Cool list. And thanks for giving me a mention.

I forgot you might like the Mourning Sun album. It's a damn fine album and shows what can be achieved by truely blending genres
