Dec. 17th, 2008 11:29It's raining again. I awoke to it splashing on the roof. And oddly enough, since I grew up in Pittsburgh, 46 degrees and rainy feels like Christmas. I am slowly getting into the Christmas mood. Lights and ornaments are up. Cards in the mail. Still need to do some shopping and gift making but nothing stressful.
I think that is one of my major goals in life. Never let holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving become some huge anger-ball of stress. Do the things you care about and the things that matter and let the rest ride. So far it seems pretty effective. (It is also the reason that I got to have coffee and cake and quiet conversation at my wedding reception)
Holidays usually came with a fair about of stress as a kid; it's a tradition I would like to end. Fortunately I think things are mellowing with my family, or I'm around so little I can ignore it.
At the moment I am making real progress in study and watching the rain trickle down my cube window. It's a good day.
