Weekend happenings
Aug. 13th, 2007 09:08Vegas was somewhat disappointing. If you like Cirque du Soleil and are looking something exciting and sensual do NOT see Zumanity. Too much Vegas lounge act and not enough Cirque. Each of the acts were interspersed with a very lame and irritating comedy bit by some VERY annoying characters. Truly There are only so many dildo jokes one can handle. I was really expecting a top notch Cirque performance with adult overtones and some beautiful naked bodies. What we got was some fabulous acts, a couple great singers and a beautiful drag queen being trampled on by by an overdone gigilo, a crass obnoxious married couple telling jokes that only 14 y/o boys think are funny and a series of dance numbers that looked like poorly choreographed cheerleader routines. Oh yes and embarrassing audience interaction, that was definitely sexual and occasionally funny, but really just mocked American prudishness. A couple would have been acceptable as warm up acts but were far below what should be part of a classy show by a troupe such as this. Every time the performances would get a steady flow going it would be interrupted by cheap penis gags. (think cold shower) It was if they were afraid of actually letting audience get aroused, despite the fact that it was an 18+ show and is advertised as "The sensual side of Cirque du Soleil" So I am remembering the good stuff and desperately trying to forget the crap.
The rest of the trip was pretty great. We had a pretty nice hotel room, a lovely dinner and a relaxing afternoon at the pool and late night on the Strip. No
yldaeri we didn't hit the casino floor. Sorry. Maybe when we go to ball at Pechanga in November we'll give it a try.
I am again keeping up with the netflix. Most recently its been Underworld and Underworld: Evolution. Both fun flix. The first one is a better movie all around but I am a sucker for the love scenes in the sequel. (That and vamps with wings are cool) The commentary with Len Wiseman was great on the first I will probably watch the other tonight and send them back. So what are you watching these days?
Productivity and sociability is on the upswing. I took a sick day Friday and got my neck realigned and some good sleep. Life is returning to normal for awhile so I am taking advantage of the time to get back into working out and getting out more. I think we're going to give geocaching a try this weekend. Or go diving, the water is about as warm as it ever gets so its the best time to get back in the water.
In general I am feeling strangely optimistic. how odd.
