Weekend recap.

When last we saw our heroine she was being cozy and happily domestic. This good mood lasted the duration of a glorious 4 day weekend. (actually 4.5 as we were happily told to go home around 2 on Wednesday. My boss rules) Dinner for four on Thursday was slashed to two early in the afternoon and deteriorated to “I’m starving so I’m eating. We can have pie at the beach.” around 5. Things were all good though. I ate at 5 so I could start drinking the wine I had been staring down since 2. [livejournal.com profile] oceansfire ate when she arrived. Then in true SoCal style we headed to the beach for pie and fire spinning. Much fun was had by all. Then she proceeded to clean my ENTIRE kitchen while I crashed on the couch. I woke to a bright shiny kitchen the next day. That was so very nice as I am much better at cooking than at doing dishes. (Just a note here to all that have not been to my thanksgiving ever. I make fucking good turkey. Coated with olive oil to keep the juices in and stuffed with veggies, rosemary, sage and this year another herb that I can remember. The breast meat literally requires no chewing.)
Friday and Saturday were spent relaxing and puttering about the house. I cut up the rest of the turkey for sandwiches, actually boiled the carcass down to stock and accomplished other domestic tasks that I have generally been putting off. As a rule I abhor Black Friday and refuse to shop at all that day unless otherwise required to. So errands were put off til yesterday. These included picking up new running shoes for [livejournal.com profile] quixotic_goat, about 800 miles past due. While there I got my own biomechanics assessed and several pairs of sale shoes sent over from other stores to try on this week. Dropped off the Vienna film as well as a couple B&W rolls I found around from Ireland. And since I was at the mall anyway I couldn’t resist a stop at Hot Topic in the off chance they had something not overpriced that caught my eye, sometimes I get lucky. This yielded a very nice pair of sleeves, red hair dye and a couple pairs of tights that were on sale. Not too bad. I then went on a futile search for dark blue or purple tapers. Major fail. But I did come away with a new hoodie to replace what was lost in Hungary, a long sleeve T, new lipstick and a new dress shirt. I had to settle for purple-ish votives. So, much productivity was had and the Amex is now sweating bullets.
I am now buzzing on coffee and being generally distracted at work.

life + coffee + happy

Nice you had a good weekend. Cooking can be a lot of fun, can't it?

Its nice to hear you happy. The turkey bit just further convinces me to keep scheeming to get you to move closer. We don't have beaches to walk to :(

Second on the cheers for happy. As for the scheming, I think the effort to get us back to the east coast if well beyond individual scheming and it's well on it's way to being a full blown conspiracy ;P

Sorry I missed the the lovely weekend love :(

Random note, there's talk that a "mall" might open at Al Asad with a couple stores. One of the stores that was supposedly in the running was Hot Topic. The female Marine that had been out there and was realying the news had to explain to half the SNCOs and officers in the room what kind of store it was... I'm not sure I believe that it's on a list of possible stores, but what I can't even understand is why it would even occur to anyone to put in on a list in the firstplace. Unless the list consisted of possiblities solicited from the service members stationed there. In which I guess I could see how it got considered, but it would still be ridiculous. A store that you can't wear 50% of what it sells on base in the US much less out here. I mean there is no time you're ever in civvies except for PT... I just don't get why anyone would think that store out here is a good idea. Not that I don't like some of what they sell, at least on you, ::grin:: but it's not exactly professional attire, nor is there any purpose to selling or buying it over here. ::boogle::

Hmm... didn't mean to go off on a tangent in your post, sorry.
::looks suitably chagrined::

I'm glad you had such a nice weekend.

Unfortunately, Wicks N Sticks closed years ago. That was the best source for X color of Y style candles. sigh.
