my to-do list

is a strange, shifting, organic, almost sentient creature. It grows, changes and is trimmed throughout the day. I seem to do best if I make a numbered list first thing in the morning, then cross things off as I do them, adding on and crossing off other not-previously-listed tasks as I am distracted by them. Just because I hadn't planned on cleaning the kitchen doesn't mean I shouldn't get the satisfaction of crossing it off a list. I will use the same list for 2-4 days until it because bizarrely long and amoeba-like structure. [livejournal.com profile] reedrover was very amused when she saw it.

I will absolutely write something on the list that I just got done doing so I'll have the satisfaction of getting to cross it off.

it's weird...

...how similar our brains work on shit we've never talked about. Go you on the productivity!

This sounds somewhat familiar since I do something similar. Love the crossing off! I tend to use post-it notes (partly b/c [livejournal.com profile] ovrclokd brings me stacks for them from the Westin). The downside is that I ended up with lots of random 'notes with one or two items not crossed off. Sometimes I aggregate the old 'notes onto a new, clean one with the potential for all lines to be crossed off.

I can empathize! And, great wording for your description.
